2 C degrees up vs 1/2 C down « Musings from the Chiefio

It looks to me like we’ve got a pretty clear A / B case here.

Much colder, things go to hell pronto. People die. Starvation happens.

Much warmer, we get a bit more warm rains, lush growth, vastly more food growing areas.

I’m just not seeing the problem here. Global Warming? Bring it on! PLEASE!!

The Beginning Of The End « The Unbearable Nakedness of CLIMATE CHANGE

I have a confession to make…it ain’t much fun to talk climate change at a time where AGW and especially Catastrophic AGW are taking blows left, right and center. So in order to keep this blog lukewarm, here’s a heartful “thanks!” to New Scientist for providing the context for planetary temperatures so far:

Global Warming Not Happening – Global Cooling Is Real And Now

It is strange that the IPCC panel should link recent extreme weather events to global warming because quite simply there has been no global warming to speak of for 10-15 years now based on the official climate data from the governments of the world [US /NCDC, ENVIRONMENT CANADA and THE EUROPEAN ENVIRONMENTAL AGENCY. Recently US meteorologist Anthony Watts showed that the continental U.S. has not warmed in the last 10 years, and in fact has grown cooler in the summer and colder in the winter. The climate data numbers come from the National Climatic Data Center.

William M. Briggs, Statistician » Hurricane Predictors Admit They Can’t Predict Hurricanes

My heart soared like a hawk1 after learning that Messieurs Philip Klotzbach and William Gray have admitted in print the hardest thing scientists can ever confess. That they were wrong.

If only other climatologists would follow suit!

Comment On Andy Revkin’s Post “More On The ‘Sensitive’ Climate Question” Specifially With Respect To His Interview With Andreas Schmittner | Climate Science: Roger Pielke Sr.

The surface temperature trend is a very poor metric to diagnose global warming and cooling, much less the much broader topic of climate variability and longer term change.

Over land, there are a variety of issues. For example, its value (its anomaly) is a function of the height at which a temperature anomaly is calculated, with the minimum temperature anomaly (which is used to construct the mean temperature anomaly) being a particularly inadequate metric to diagnose global average global warming and cooling.
